China’s Automobile Imitations Set to Cruise Control
For almost everything we buy, it comes as no surprise when we find something relatively similar being made in China…under a slightly different name.
China takes the cake for having the best imitations around, but it seems that China has taken a great leap forward in replicating products. No longer limited to only simple appliances, phones, perfumes, and other accessories, the Chinese are now able to replicate something far more complicated — the automobile.
Of course, some are pretty poor imitations, but there are a handful that actually look really good, and the average non-enthusiast might not even know the difference.
Here are some of the car replicas being sold in China:
Ford F150 vs. JAC 4R3
BMW 7 Series vs. BYD F6
Mercedes C-Class vs. Geely Merrie 300
Rolls-Royce Phantom vs. Hongqi HQD
Vauxhall (Opel) Frontera vs. Landwind
Toyota Prado vs. Dadi Shuttle
Nissan X-Trail vs. Great Wall Sing
Honda CRV vs. Laibao SRV
Smart Fortwo vs Shuanghuan C6
Daewoo Matiz vs. Chery QQ
Holden Commodore vs Jaguar XF
Lexus LS vs JAC Auto C240
Cadillac CTC vs Shanghai Maple Marindo 506
Fiat Panda vs Great Wall Regular Perry
Pagani Zonda vs Rabbit PZR
Subaru Forester vs. Yema SQJ6451 CUV
Volkswagen Tiguan vs. Yema T-SUV
Infiniti EX vs. Yema E-SUV
Audi A4 Avant vs. Yema F16
Neoplan Starliner vs. Zonda A9
Recently, Chinese imitations have gained attention because of their extremely low retail prices. However, more and more legitimate producers of goods have been trying to stop this piracy from happening.
It is, therefore, up to us consumers whether we decide to buy these kinds of products.
